1.Who we are
Cube Backgammon (the app and this website) is provided by [Company name], a company registered in [country] (company number [number]), [registered address] (“we”, “us”). Contact us at hello@cubebackgammon.com.
2.Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is happy for you to use the app under these terms.
3.The service
Cube Backgammon is free, with no ads and nothing to buy. We work to keep it running well, but we may change, add or remove features, and we may stop offering the service. If we do, we’ll give reasonable notice where we can.
4.Your account
You create an account by signing in with Apple. You are responsible for what happens on your account, so keep your phone secure. Your pseudonym must not impersonate anyone, contain anyone’s personal details, or be offensive or promotional. We may change or remove a pseudonym that breaks these rules.
5.Fair play
Online games are only fun if they are fair. You agree not to:
- use an engine, bot or any outside help during an online game;
- lose on purpose or arrange results to manipulate ratings;
- exploit bugs (please report them to us instead);
- interfere with our servers, automate play, or access anyone else’s account.
If you do, we may cancel results, correct ratings, and suspend or close the accounts involved.
6.No gambling
Cube Backgammon has no real-money play, stakes or prizes. Points, ratings and the doubling cube are for scoring only. They have no monetary value and can’t be exchanged for anything. Don’t use the app to arrange or settle bets.
7.The coach’s advice
The coach, hints, reviews and ratings are there to help you learn. Our engine is strong, but it can be wrong, and we don’t guarantee any analysis, rating or result.
8.Our content
The app, its engine, the coach’s explanations, the lessons, the boards and the design belong to us or to our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own non-commercial purposes.
Except where the law allows it, you may not copy, sell, modify, reverse engineer or decompile the app, or extract its neural networks or other parts. Open-source components are covered by their own licences, listed on our credits page.
9.If you downloaded the app from the App Store
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (which is zero). Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- Apple is not responsible for handling any claims about the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection, privacy, or claims that the app infringes someone’s intellectual property.
- You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US Government embargo, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must also follow the App Store’s own terms when using the app.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
10.Our responsibility to you
The app is free and provided “as is”, to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit. Apart from that, we are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, for business losses, or for losing progress you didn’t back up with an account.
If you are a consumer, you have legal rights that these terms don’t affect.
11.Ending things
You can stop using the app at any time and delete your account from inside it. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we’ll explain why where it’s appropriate to do so.
12.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using the app after that, the new terms apply.
13.Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the European Union, you keep the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live and can bring a claim there.
14.Privacy
How we handle your data is explained in our privacy policy.
